Onkyo Intec185

The time when only boom boxes were ruling the Indian market. Onkyo introduced Intec185 (Made In Japan) in 1996 in India.
Name 185 series is to depict that the width of the system is 185mm (~7 inches).
It was a cute, small little Hi-Fi music system but was considered expensive at Rs24,000/-, because it was a unusual system at that time in the market. It had no jazzy colorful lights and power was rated 25w/ch at 4ohms DIN.

This system was loaded with all the features which are must for a matured listener.

> Built in High Quality CD player.

> Built in Tuner

> Timer
> Line in Line out.

> And Made in Japan :)
The Intec185 is also one of the highest sold mini component system of Onkyo in Japan.

The first generation model Intec-185(1996) was with
1)CR185=CD/FM Tuner with 2 line in(Tape/MD), 2 line out(Tape/MD) with optical digital out
2)K185=cassette deck.
3)D-052A =Speaker System, with 13cm woofer.

The Second generation model was Intec-185II(1997)with

1)CR185II=CD/FM Tuner with 3 line in(Tape/MD/Line), 2 line out(Tape/MD), with optical digital out
2)K185=cassette deck.
3)D-032A =Speaker System with 12 cm woofer.

Onkyo also Introduced MD185=Mini Disc Recorder and CHR-185=With 3 CD Changer option with the second version.

The Third and the last generation model was Intec-185x (1998-2000)with

1)CR185X=CD/FM Tuner with 3 line in(Tape/MD/Line), 2 line out(Tape/MD), with optical digital out, Solid aluminum Volume Knob.
2)K185x=cassette deck.
3)D-032Ax =Speaker System with 12cm woofer.

In India this was the First Hi-Fi system which introduced customers to the real High-end Audio. Many of the customers who have brought this system have upgraded to much higher end Audiophile systems. But still retain this system for the quality.

The heritage continues with many new Onkyo Liverpool series ranges.
